Contact UsFixing typos on a book title or author name
Some book details are locked after publishing. In certain scenarios, we can make updates, while in others, we cannot.
Fixing small typos
If you've noticed a typo in your book title or author name, and your book has been published, you can ask KDP Support to make the correction. Note: This only applies to typos, e.g. misspelling of a name. We cannot make the updates while the book is "In Review."
If you used your own ISBN (i.e. not the free KDP ISBN), you’ll also need to make sure the details match with the ISBN agency. Otherwise, there’ll be publishing errors.
Changes other than typos
If you need to update your book title or author name, other than a typo, you will need to republish your book as a new edition. Examples include shortening a book title or changing the author name to a pen name.
To unpublish and republish a corrected book
You'll follow the same steps to creating a new book as before, but instead you'll use updated details.
To unpublish a book:- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Click the ellipsis button ("...") next to the book you want to unpublish.
- Click Unpublish.
Note: It takes up to 72 hours for a book to unpublish. Individual book formats (i.e. paperback vs eBook) can be unpublished and republished.
